Who can attend Saxophone Day?
Saxophonists of all backgrounds and skill levels, age 11+, are welcome, from middle schoolers to adult enthusiasts to college students and professionals. Over 100 saxophonists join us each year!

Where is the event?
Saxophone Day takes place at OCU's Wanda L. Bass Music Center, 2501 N. Blackwelder Ave, Oklahoma City, OK 73106. ()

What should I bring?
Bring your saxophone, reeds, mouthpiece, and other basic supplies. A bottle of water and coat can be nice to have just in case.

Can I perform in the masterclass?
Performance slots are available via the registration form. A video performance sample is required for your application. Selected performers will be notified ~2 weeks in advance of the event. A pianist will be available the day of the event, or you can bring your own; please provide the requested pianist info in the registration form.

What is the Monster Saxophone Ensemble?
All attendees are invited to perform in our large saxophone ensemble, rehearsing throughout the day and performing in the farewell concert. No prior ensemble experience is needed; music and parts are provided, and play what you can! The Monster Saxophone Ensemble farewell concert is open and free to the public.

Is there a schedule for the day?
A detailed timeline (check-in, rehearsals, recital, workshop, masterclass, and final concert) is posted above.

Why is there a fee to attend?
The registration fee helps cover the cost of hosting our guest artist, workshops, and the full Saxophone Day experience. Participants who apply for a masterclass slot are also paying to have their recording adjudicated for the selection process. 

Is lunch provided?
Lunch is on your own, with plenty of free time to grab food nearby and visit our exhibitors and vendors.

Is parking free?
Yes! Parking is free and readily available around the Bass Music Center and Meinders School of Business. (Click here to view a campus map)

Will there be vendors/exhibitors?
Yes! Saxophone, mouthpiece, and reed companies, sheet music vendors, and a repair technician will be on site throughout the day.

What about parents?
Parents are welcome to stay and watch throughout the day at no additional cost; there is no separate fee or registration required for parent observers.

3 tiers of participation are available:

General Participant: $18 fee

• includes the full experience with workshops, masterclasses, recitals, vendor exhibits, and the Monster Saxophone Ensemble!

Solo Masterclass Performer: $25 application fee

• additional $25 due by the event if selected
• notification of selection will occur ~2 weeks before the event; individuals not selected are automatically granted General Participant admission 

Chamber Music Masterclass Performer: $25 application fee per member

• additional $10 per member due by the event if selected
• notification of selection will occur ~2 weeks before the event; groups not selected are are automatically granted General Participant admission
