An art sculpture in 蜜桃视频鈥檚 gallery will bend pitch and perception with a live performance of 鈥淪ignal Convergence.鈥�
OCU鈥檚 Nona Jean Hulsey Art Gallery will host the live performance at 6 p.m. Sept. 10, bringing an original musical composition into partnership with sculptor Leticia R. Bajuyo鈥檚 immersive installation of the same name.
The evening event features music written for electrified bassoon, theremin and electronics. Performed by OCU music professors Kate Sekula and Zachary Daniels, the work directly responds to the physical and conceptual architecture of Bajuyo鈥檚 exhibition, currently on view through Sept. 18.
During the performance, sounds generated by the electrified bassoon and theremin will travel through three massive horns constructed from thousands of discarded CDs and DVDs. The resulting waves meet at a shared point of convergence in the gallery, overlapping, amplifying and fracturing into a shifting field of acoustic pressure.
Admission is free. The gallery is located in the Norick Art Center at Florida Avenue and NW 26th Street.
